What Happened in July
Good Morning, and welcome to my 2nd Newsletter on my new website from SiteGround. I have discovered that they send me a count of my website traffic. How many humans and how many bots visited my website. I am happy to report there are more humans than bots, this is a new feature I am enjoying. This may help me later on as I continue to expand my presence on this spinning globe called Earth and on the internet and in the world of readers, while at the same time continue to work on writing, continue reading what others wrote, seeing what others wrote turn into movies, socializing, etc.
As far as the website and all the plugins available, I’m afraid I’m not using them all to my advantage. Now that I’m finished building the site, now launching the new site, and eventually; I would like to refine it. When I look at other author websites to see how their professional staff designed theirs. One theme I see is that the website is color-coordinated with the colors of their current releases. I like that and can’t quite get it to look uniform. Let’s say that I’m working on it, along with my work in progress. The research and documentation just to get a first draft is Urghhhhh! Getting out of my head and into a first draft is what I worked on in July and will consume most of my August as well.
I’ve posted a few more videos on TikTok and worked on increasing my followers. It is a slow go. I’m only at 250 followers and need at least 1,000 to do anything worth while. I’m so clumsy with the video production and the editing them. I will continue to improve videos and creating content.
Hash-tagging the videos with the correct SEO keywords is about to change I was told. I’m also trying to keep up with what other creators are saying about Google and TikTok. How TikTok will use the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) tools to draw the right traffic to your website and how #hashtags will become less important. Whatever that all means. I’m working and will continue to work and research this area. My goal is to be in a good place with my current W.I.P., but I’m in the beginning (5%) through and another project that is 80% complete that I should go and finish, but I think the other is a better story that will sell and I have leads on my readers. That’s all I’m going to say about that. I will fill you in when it’s ready for a peek and an update.
In August I’m looking forward to and a little nervous about dropping my daughter off at college for her freshman year. She’ll do fine, it’s us parents that worry. But it’s time for her to spread her wings. She’ll do fine, what ever she puts her mind to and sticks with it. I think it may be a little bit of an adjustment for her because I do believe they make high school in some places in the US too easy. The work load may be an adjustment, but not anything else. She’s independent, drives, cooks, cleans, works, socializes and relaxes, exercises and keeps herself busy. I believe we’ve taught her well and prepared her in the ways we knew how. Spread your wings my angel and fly and do great things that you love with your life.
As I mentioned, I’ll be returning home for a few days for the baby shower of my future grandson and to visit with my family and friends. As much as I can squeeze in a few days while we’re there. Do a little research while I’m there and enjoy the summer.
Until next month.
All my best,
